Fishing Report – March 2013

Got back from holidays around February 20. Before we left we had some great
days. I was looking forward to getting back out on the water when I got
home. However it was tough fishing. I guess the moody days of march arrived
a bit early this year. I’ll be laying low for another week or so getting
caught up on some other work and going to a couple of trade shows. Prime
time spring fishing will be starting mid April, so looking forward to that.
If your wanting to shake the winter cobwebs off, the time is now to book for
spring fishing. Also doing well on the salmon / halibut bookings for July
and August in Ucluelet, however I still havent heard from some of you yet!!
All forecasts are looking to another great summer of fishing.
The halibut rules have changed again. Only one halibut over 83 cm , which
is the same as last year, but none over 60 lbs. I guess they will give us a
length measurement to go by. Two possession is the same as before. If the
halibut stocks are decreasing, I guess the best way to replenish them is to
throw back the big females. As long as the commercial guys have the same
rule.

Please remember to like Kootenay Kingfisher on Facebook if you are on it. I
am posting more up to date reports on there.

I look forward to hearing from you soon. Take care and …
