FISHING REPORT
Fishing report for Sept. 5th, 2007:
Well I'm back again from another
great summer on Vancouver Island. The fishing was fantastic, and the weather
was great. To give you an idea of how the fishing was, my first day out we head
out to big bank, and I drop a flasher and hootchie down to the bottom, and a
gold spoon to 101ft. I turn around, and the spoon at 101ft. releases. The rod
pops up, then slams back down to the water. A 33lb spring in the first 5 minutes
of the trip, you know it's going to be a great year!!
Excellent numbers of Springs and Halibut, and the game is to try and keep the
coho off. Also got alot more Ling Cod this year which was very nice.
Around the 15th of August the big Springs really started to funnel up Barkley
Sound, and we got good numbers of fish in the protected waters of Harbours Entrance
and Swale Rock. Bob and Carl from Columbia Country came up and we shot a Salmon
show at Harbours Entrance. Look for that to come out around April. I fished
untill the 25th of August, then we worked our way home. I hope to stay next
year till mid Sept.
Back home it's time to hit the Walleye on the Columbia River. I start this week.
Also the flyfishing will be great on the river as well. Hoppers will be a trout
favorite at this time of year.
Only a month away from primetime Gerrard fishing on Kootenay Lake. Time to start
planning a trophy rainbow trip for the fall and winter.
